Following her 2013 signing with an agent, Liao launched her professional career with guest roles in Fresh Off the Boat, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, and Bad Teacher. She was cast as Mandy in the 2016 Disney XD film Jessica Darling’s It List, which was directed by Debby Ryan.
For the first three seasons of the Netflix parody of Full House, Fuller House, Liao played Lola Wong. For season two, she was elevated to series regular. In season one of the Amazon Prime Video series The Kicks, she also played the recurring character Parker Zhao.
