On 22nd October 2017, Hall was rushed to the hospital after feeling dizzy and lightheaded while on-air and he had to undergo emergency surgery. At the hospital, they discovered he had a colloid cyst on his brain that required immediate attention. The cyst had grown and was blocking fluid inside his brain from freely draining, which increase pressure. The surgery went well but he still had to stay at the hospital for two weeks due to bacterial meningitis.

Gray took great pride in not only delivering the news but educating the community about the latest scams and frauds. During his time with WTVJ, Gray covered a number of major stories that included the Miami mortgage foreclosure crisis, and Fidel Castro’s resignation as Cuba’s president. Gray also spent four years at WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina, where he was the weekend anchor/reporter. While in Charleston, Gray was awarded the Green Eyeshade Award for a feature story. He began his broadcasting career as a production assistant for KTVT, the CBS affiliate in Dallas, Texas. His first on-air job happened shortly after at WABG in Greenville, Mississippi. He was a “one-man band” as well as the weekend anchor. He shot, edited, wrote, and produced his own stories and newscasts.

Gray was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana. While in college, he played tennis and was a member of the Melton Foundation; an organization that allowed him to act as a global citizen by addressing and tackling global challenges while traveling to India, China, and Chile. He is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. A father of two young boys, Gray enjoys traveling, fishing, and watching movies.
