Hubbard was born in Glenwood Spring, he is a fifth-generation Colorado native. Furthermore, he also spent part of his childhood in Leadville. Since returning to FOX31 in 2011, he’s visited and reported from more than 50 countries all over the world.

In 2021, he reported from Russia and Ukraine. In 2020, he traveled to Kosovo to profile Colorado National Guard troops deployed there. He’s also traveled to Afghanistan to profile Colorado Air Force reservists, returned to the battlefields of Vietnam with local veterans, and traveled with World War II heroes to Normandy, Pearl Harbor, and the Pacific Islands.

His reporting for FOX31 has also taken him to North Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia, Bosnia, Israel, and the West Bank. This is Hubbard’s second stint at FOX31 Denver. He first worked here from 2004-2007 as the weekend anchor. In 2007, he left for ABC News, where he worked as a New York-based anchor and correspondent.

He was co-anchor of ABC’s national early-morning newscasts, “World News Now” and “America This Morning,” and reported for “Good Morning America,” “World News with Diane Sawyer” and “Nightline,” traveling across the country and overseas to cover breaking news, severe weather, the economy and politics for the network.

Hubbard has received more than 50 Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences/Heartland Chapter, including eight Emmys for his anchoring. In both 2021 and 2022, he was given both the Emmy and the Award of Excellence from the Colorado Association of Broadcasters for Best Anchor.

He’s been honored with a national Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and the national Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists. He’s also won seven regional Edward R. Murrow Awards. Moreover, in 2018, his coverage of veterans helped FOX31 win the prestigious “Celebration of Service to America” Award from the National Association of Broadcasters.

Hubbard currently serves as President of the Board of Governors of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences/Heartland Chapter. He likes to spend time volunteering in the community. He serves on the Denver Metro Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, and the advisory board of Shimmering Wings, a non-profit that sends grieving children to Camp Erin, a summer camp to help cope with the loss of a parent, sibling, or another close family member.

In addition, he volunteers his time working with The Greatest Generations Foundation, a Denver-based veteran’s charity that returns World War II and Vietnam heroes to the battlefields where they served all over the world.
