Hobbs’s love for weather began in his early childhood, During the early 2000s an overnight tornado ripped through his hometown coming within nearly 100 yards of Hobb’s mobile home. His home was spared but the terrifying storms led to years of fear. His fear turned into his passion during his high school years before he went to study Meteorology.
During his years in college, he learned the dynamics of the atmosphere and the world. He studied outside the country on Semester at Sea, traveling the world on a ship for a whole semester. Through his journey to 13 countries that semester and across the Atlantic, he developed a passion for climate research.
Hobbs spent the last years of college studying ocean tidal fluxes and how they impact ice calving. He also spent a semester as an exchange student at The University of Northern Colorado. He attended and graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology.
After graduating he became a REALTOR. After 2 1/2 years in Bowling, Green Hobbs left the industry for a brief time to move back to Colorado. However, new opportunities in the TV industry led him to Sarasota in January 2021. During his leisure time, he enjoys rock climbing, going camping, storm chasing, and mountain climbing. He also loves paddleboarding, sailing, and shark tooth hunting.
