A significant twist in Stone’s life occurred when he crossed paths with the legendary Elvis Presley and his wife, Priscilla Presley, at the 1968 Mainland vs. Hawaii Karate Championships. This event was sponsored by Ed Parker, Elvis’s long-time karate instructor. At the time, Stone was fulfilling the role of a bodyguard for Phil Spector.

Elvis was intrigued by Stone’s skills and invited him to the Presley couple’s penthouse apartment after the performance. During this encounter, Elvis proposed that Stone train with Priscilla, who had shown interest in learning karate. Subsequently, Priscilla embarked on a journey to Stone’s karate school in Huntington Beach, which was a 45-minute car ride from her home. However, due to the distance, she later decided to train with Chuck Norris, whose school was conveniently situated closer to the Presley residence in West Los Angeles. Stone occasionally visited Norris’s school to provide instruction to Priscilla.

This unique connection between Mike Stone and Priscilla Presley ultimately played a role in the separation of Elvis and Priscilla Presley in February 1972, culminating in their divorce in 1973. The relationship between Stone and Priscilla faced a controversial turn when Stone sold a tabloid article titled “How I Stole Elvis Presley’s Wife From Him” to the Globe. Priscilla attributed the breakup to Stone’s decision to share their story with the press.
