Fierro while transitioning from student intern to full-time newsroom employee fell in love with the fast pace of the news business while working behind the scenes at “Good Day LA.”She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and women’s studies (now gender studies) from the University of California, Los Angeles. In addition after graduating, she turned to UCLA’s Extension Program for broadcast journalism. Her passion for reading turned into a work project with the launch of Olivia’s Book Club in January 2019.
In 2021, she expanded the brand with a weekly podcast, interviewing bestselling authors about their books and their personal stories. Growing her role in the book community, she also hosts events for Changing Hands Bookstore, both in-person and online.
Additionally, Fierro regularly donates her time to local nonprofits as a volunteer or event host Committed to the value of local news as a means of connecting people and strengthening our sense of community. Organizations Fierro works closely with include Girls On the Run, Chicanos por la Causa, March of Dimes, Dress for Success, and Valley of the Sun United Way.
