Despite her parents’ allegiance to the UT Longhorns, Abbi felt an immediate connection to the OU campus when she set foot on it, making Norman, Oklahoma her home for the next four years. While the OU football program initially drew her attention, so did the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, where her passion for journalism and broadcasting blossomed.

As a Sports Anchor and Reporter at FOX21 News, she has the privilege of keeping the Southern Colorado audience informed about the latest sporting events and news in the Colorado Springs and Denver areas. Sports have always played a significant role in Abbi’s life, stemming from her family’s strong sports focus.
While she was involved in various athletic pursuits, her heart and soul were dedicated to soccer. Influenced in part by her father, she initially rooted for Dallas’ professional sports teams, including the Cowboys, Mavericks, and Rangers. Spending quality time on the couch beside her dad, watching as many games as possible, Abbi quickly became a fervent fan of each of the Dallas teams, and this loyalty is likely to endure.
Abbi’s commitment to sports journalism deepened as she watched numerous female sports broadcasters over the years. This led her to become actively involved in all three student-produced OU shows: OU Nightly, Sooner Sports Pad, and Gameday U. Additionally, she took on leadership roles, serving as both Vice President and President of the Association of Women in Sports Media (AWSM).
Among her broadcast role models are renowned figures like Erin Andrews, Charissa Thompson, and Jenny Taft. Her personal favorite sports are football, soccer, and basketball, and she aspires to someday cover football on a national scale for Fox Sports.
