She moved to New York City after graduating to pursue acting and modeling. Before moving back to New Orleans, the award-winning singer, composer, keyboardist, and founder of the bands The Hawketts, The Meters, and The Neville Brothers landed some advertisements and a minor part on the soap opera All My Children. She is the cousin of musician Ivan Neville and the Grammy Award-winning singer Aaron Neville’s niece.

Prior to moving to journalism at Southern Methodist University, she enrolled in pre-pharmacy at Xavier University. She made a transfer to the University of Texas at Austin, where she was able to work as a reporter and obtain a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
While a junior at the University of Texas at Austin School of Journalism, now known as Moody College of Communication, she started her career as a general assignment reporter at KVUE-TV. After graduating, Neville worked as a reporter/anchor for WWL in New Orleans. She returned to Texas in 1988 and worked as a reporter for Houston’s KHOU-TV for a year. Neville joined WVUE as an anchor/reporter and moved back to New Orleans.
Extreme Close-Up, a one-on-one celebrity interview program that she co-produced for E! Entertainment TV, hired her as host in 1991. Additionally, in her three years with the show, she conducted over 200 interviews with celebrities ranging from Will Smith, Tom Cruise, and Sharon Stone to David Bowie, Whitney Houston, and Sade, and she established herself as the first prominent black female entertainment reporter in the country. She became the first black woman to lead a nationally syndicated entertainment news magazine program in 1994 after defeating over 1,000 competitors to develop and anchor Extra for Warner Brothers studios.

Later, Neville co-hosted Fox’s nationally syndicated morning show Good Day Live with Steve Edwards and Debbie Matenopoulos, hosted Celebrity Hobbies on the DIY Network, and served as a correspondent for the 2005 revival of the syndicated news magazine A Current Affair. On August 1, 2008, Neville became the lead anchor for the Fox 5 Morning News, a four-hour weekday newscast on KSWB-TV in San Diego.

She also served as a correspondent from New Orleans for the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina for Studio B with Shepard Smith and Fox Report.

On March 5, 2021, America’s News Headquarters, Neville’s weekend newscast with co-anchor Eric Shawn was announced as renamed “Fox News Live.” Neville also was announced as the host of the show “Sing Like A Star” by Tegna, Inc. The interactive, weekly cross-platform singing competition was filmed in Neville’s hometown of New Orleans in conjunction with WWL-TV and debuted on September 16, 2017.
