Lowell’s journey in the entertainment industry began in 2003 when he successfully secured his first major role after a rigorous audition. He was cast as Jonathan Fields in the ABC teen drama series, “Life As We Know It.” Unfortunately, the show faced cancellation after just 13 episodes.
In 2006, Lowell took on lead roles in two distinct projects – the coming-of-age film “Graduation” and a smaller production called “You Are Here.” Following the conclusion of “Life As We Know It,” he joined the cast of “Veronica Mars” for its third season, portraying the character Stosh “Piz” Piznarski alongside Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring.
In 2009, Lowell made appearances in various videos created by the sketch comedy group BriTANicK, which included popular sketches like “Pillow Talk” and “The Morning After.” From 2007 to 2010, he became a part of the cast of the ABC drama series “Private Practice,” where he played the role of Dell, the receptionist for the Oceanside Wellness Group. Notably, his character was a qualified nurse, a midwife-in-training, and a young father to his six-year-old daughter, Betsy.
Lowell’s departure from “Private Practice” occurred in the third-season finale as his character, Dell, tragically passed away due to heart failure, a complication that arose during brain surgery following a vehicle accident.
In 2011, Lowell portrayed the character Stuart Whitworth in the film adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s novel, “The Help.” The following year marked the beginning of filming for Lowell’s directorial debut, “Beside Still Waters.” This film, set in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, revolves around a man who reevaluates his perspective on life after the loss of his parents.
In addition to his acting career, Lowell demonstrated his versatility by taking on the role of Derrick in the 2014 Fox comedy series, “Enlisted.” Furthermore, he showcased his musical talents as a vocalist and harmonicist for the indie acoustic band, “Two Shots for Poe.” His creative contributions extended to the Off-Broadway stage as he starred in the hit production “Jacuzzi” at Ars Nova in New York City.
