He had no idea that it would be in Detroit but as soon as he was old enough to know what sportscasters and play-by-play guys did for a living, he knew that he wanted to make that his life. He could tell you how he got here, which involves him having zero luck finding a TV job for years and then things just started happening.
It’s a long story with a lot of people who helped him and believed in him. Hard work. Right place, right time, and some lucky breaks. He feels like his wife and he ran through a maze to get here. Miller wouldn’t want to do it over because the stars aligned so many times that it wouldn’t ever turn out the same. When he came to Detroit in 1997, he planned to be there for two years and then make his triumphant return home to Washington, DC. Very quickly though, this became his home.
Additionally, he can’t think of a place where he would have the support and the resources that The station has given him and his department.
