Dashefsky returned to KHON2 after beginning there in 1990 as a sports director. One of the highlights of his profession was launching Hawaii’s first-ever morning newscast with co-anchor Leslie Wilcox on September 7, 1992.
Just four days later, he covered Hurricane Iniki’s devastation of Kauai, marking every other significant moment in his profession. Over the years, Dashefsky has worked with diverse information shops and currently dealt with play-by-play and pre-and post-game responsibilities for each of the University of Hawaii and neighborhood high school athletics.
Throughout his profession, he has met 3 presidents, played golf with Michael Jordan, and flown with the Blue Angels. However, his maximum memorable story and preferred second was journeying the United States Arizona Memorial with a Pearl Harbor survivor and a former Japanese fighter pilot.
“They met on the memorial, located wreaths in the water, and set apart 50 years of bitterness,” he remembers. “To witness that moment, among these two men, changed into something on the way to live with me for all time.”
Dashefsky returned to KHON2 on September eight, 2014, to assist in the release of every other broadcast, KHON2 News at nine, with Marisa Yamane. In his free time, he enjoys being along with his dogs, Guinness and Jager, cooking, and relaxing in his outside.
