She found her love of weather and climate science early on when she began working on her private pilot’s license at the age of 15.
Burch went on to study meteorology at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. where she also did ROTC and was commissioned as an Army officer in 2019. Her two passions (aviation and weather) go hand-in-hand quite nicely. As a military pilot, she knows that lives can depend on an accurate forecast. She is now a 1LT in the California Army National Guard, flying Blackhawk helicopters in a MEDEVAC Unit based out of Sacramento.
She loves serving this country and taking part in the state mission. Burch began her on-air career at KRCR where she was the weekday evening meteorologist. She has covered everything from fire seasons to severe weather, with plenty of sunny days in between. During her free time, she volunteers with the JFCS, flies small Cessnas over the bay, or takes a stroll with her black lab, Chopper.
