Before going to WCVB, he was working for KDKA-TV, AM radio station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for 6 years. His positions there were fill-in anchor, as well as transportation, traffic, and general assignment reporter. Lokay has been passionate about news broadcasting since he was a kid. He was obsessed with being near a microphone and had a natural skill for talking to just about anyone. During his stint at college, he used to cover high school football teams, where he would lug a camera around and shoot the games, and then turn around the highlights for a local cable channel.
