She’d later discover her passion for storytelling and follow her heart to the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. Osep joined WVTM 13 in November of 2021 as a sports anchor and reporter. A Sun Devil at heart, she’s still more than excited to call SEC Country home.
Her most recent job was in Bakersfield, California as a sports director where she was nominated for an Emmy and won a regional Edward R. Murrow for a story on a local athlete making a triumphant return to cross country after a near-fatal accident. She also had the opportunity to sit down with seven prominent head coaches and lead a raw discussion on race and its impact on the local community. Before Bakersfield, Kari was a sports reporter for WJAC in State College, covering everything from Penn State athletics to minor league ball to a vast array of high school sports.
During that time she’d cover a Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Big Ten Championships and multiple NCAA Tournament runs. From Central Pennsylvania to the Central Valley of California to now Central Alabama, Kari is kind of following a theme in her career. And she can say that she has centered that journey on the belief that sports have a great power to connect us all and is eager to share the unique sports stories that make up her newest community.
