Before Kansas City, Kevin covered Cleveland and that city’s steady stream of historic renovation and new construction projects in the downtown and surrounding communities. That leads to award-winning reports on how real estate investment can pull entire communities up while still making it hard for other communities to benefit. He also went around the state reporting on its growing medical marijuana market and traveled to Windsor, Ontario when Canada legalized recreational marijuana.
Kevin graduated from Syracuse University from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a degree in Broadcast. In addition to Digital Journalism and from the College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in Political Science. At SU, he traveled around the country covering Syracuse Football, Basketball, and Lacrosse, including a basketball game on an aircraft carrier and the 2013 Final Four run. In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kevin covered the city’s first near-flood since the 2008 flood that devastated the city.
His reporting in 2016 during that natural disaster earned awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and a Breaking News Emmy Award. He hosted a weekly Sunday-morning political show, Iowa in Focus, covering the 2016 Iowa Caucus. In the 2016 General Election, and the first months of the Trump Administration. When the Iowa Hawkeyes had good seasons, Kevin followed them to the TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville, the Big 10 Championship game in Indianapolis, and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Kevin rode RAGBRAI twice and he’s excited to do it again eventually!
