Kim is a member of the American Meteorological Society and holds the seal of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. Deaner is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist AMS Seal winner and a well-known American meteorologist currently working as a WTVD traffic reporter, an ABC11-affiliated news channel. She has also worked for several years on various news channels such as Eyewitness News and WRAL-TV.
She initially worked as an on-air meteorologist for three years from 1996 to 1999 for ABC11 Eyewitness News – WTVD after her master’s degree. Later, as an on-air weekend meteorologist, she joined WRAL-TV, an ABC affiliate in Raleigh, California.
She has been working as a traffic reporter for WTVD in Raleigh, NC as well as working there for some time as a fill-in meteorologist. She joined the channel in March 2018. Deaner is also a member of AMS and has also earned a seal from Meteorologist Broadcast. Kim is married and has three children and a two-year-old 100-pound puppy that keeps her busy on days off.
