Steve started his career when he was just 19 years old at KREX-TV in Grand Junction, Colorado. After a stop in Sioux Falls, Denver, and Colorado Springs, Steve became the Chief Meteorologist at KEYT-TV(ABC) in Santa Barbara, California in August of 1995. There he met his wife Debbie and had two children… Steven & Emma. While in Santa Barbara, Steve was awarded 4 Golden Globes, 3 AP awards, and 2 RTNDA awards for Best Meteorologist.
Steve left KSFY-TV in April 1993 and headed to Colorado Springs, Colorado. there he joined KKTV 11 news in August 1993 as a part-time weekend meteorologist. After two years of service, he moved to Santa Barbara, California, and joined KEYt-Tv as the station’s chief meteorologist. After serving KEYT-TV for 8 years he left the station and joined WNCN in Raleigh, NC in June 2004. He served as the station’s weekend meteorologist and weather graphics designer for NBC O&O.
Steve has been awarded the AMS Seal of Approval and is well known in the TV meteorology community as the best weather graphics person in the nation. He also used to be a professional comedian in Denver while he was finishing Meteorology school. Since moving to Raleigh in 2004, the Stewarts added one more to the family. Joey was born on October 24th, 2005 at Rex Hospital.
