Asher grew up in Fenton, attended Powers Catholic High School in Flint, and graduated from Michigan State University after studying journalism and political science.
As soon as she graduated, she was hired as an anchor and reporter at Lansing’s CBS station her career took her to Flint and ABC12, where as fate would have it, she met her now-husband, Jason Carr. Furthermore, from being the 5 pm anchor in Flint she moved to FOX 2 in 2007. Moreover, she has covered everything from Presidents and politics to the most dangerous crimes and taking on those who are responsible even helping to change state laws to ban the sale of synthetic drugs.
Additionally, throughout her career, she has won 6 Emmy Awards including Best News Anchor, and multiple awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and Associated Press. That means even more to her is being able to give back to the community and teaching her daughter how important it is. Furthermore, Asher actively supports several organizations including COTS Homeless Shelter, Jackets for Jobs, Light House of Oakland County, which provides housing and assistance to homeless families, and Community Living Services, which helps disabled people gain their independence.
She loves spending time with friends and family. Her 10-year-old, who is the light of our there and tries to keep them with the times! Additionally, she has two dogs Violet and Charli Tickles. During her free time, she finds strength and peace by practicing yoga and running outdoors. She is proud to say she has run the Detroit Free Press Marathon and survived! During winter, she loves to snow, travel – and look forward to a new vacation destination.
