Before relocation to Vegas, he had spent two years working as a weekend anchor and reporter at KESQ-TV in palm springs. Before he headed out to the desert, he was working in LA for cable channel 35. It’s a city Cable station downtown that does a daily newscast. He acquired that job right after he graduated from USC in 2002. And of course, at USC he spent a few semesters working at ATVN at ATVN he did a lot of different jobs.
He initially used to run the studio cameras and did audio before he anchored one of the newscasts and also went out as a reporter. Alex outlined that working at ATVN allowed him to understand what it takes to put together a newscast. Writing and editing stories for the show at ATVN helped prepare him for the kind of deadline pressure he experiences every day. He openly says that if he hadn’t worked at ATVN where the story had to be completely accurate and done on time, probably he wouldn’t have survived his real job in TV news.
On 9th March 2016, Alex was hit by a car as he was live reporting on the story of a train derailment in Alameda country. He was standing in a 7- seven parking lot on Mission Blvd. at Niles canyon road in Fremont when two cars behind him collided. Sending one directly into the area where the news crew was working. Later footage confirms that both Savidge and his crew were uninjured and the cameraman walks over to the camera at the end of the clip to clip to say that both drivers were also okay.
