In the broadcasting program at Ricks College, he had just completed two years. He was employed by student radio station KWBH as a student at Ricks as an on-air radio personality and sports broadcaster. Carder worked as an editor, producer, sports anchor, and more between 2000 and 2007. He served as the weekend sports anchor and sports reporter for the final two years.
