Luke Sampe is an American award-winning Meteorology who is currently working at WFRV. At the station, he serves as the Chief of Meteorology. He joined the station on 1st August 2013. Additionally, Prior to joining the WFRV Local news, he worked as chief meteorologist in Rhinelander and came to WFRV from WISN in Milwaukee where he was a weekend evening meteorologist.

Sampe earned his Bachelor of Science degree in atmospheric science (weather) from UW-Milwaukee, and he also earned his Master of Science degree in mathematics with a focus in atmospheric science from UW-Milwaukee. Sampe is an award-winning broadcast meteorologist who has 19 years of experience in weather forecasting from Wisconsin. He received an award for ‘Best Weathercast’ from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association. Moreover, he holds the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society.
He has covered some of the biggest weather events in recent Wisconsin history from tornadoes, to waterspouts forming live on the waters of Lake Michigan and to record-setting blizzards. Moreover, his second night on the air at WFRV-TV turned violent as an outbreak of 6 tornadoes ripped through the Fox Valley in August of 2013. Prior to joining WFRV-TV, Luke gained broad experience working in the smallest to the largest newsrooms in Wisconsin. He worked as chief meteorologist in Rhinelander and came to WFRV from WISN in Milwaukee where he worked as a weekend evening meteorologist.
He started his career behind the scenes at WTMJ in 2000. Three cross-state moves later, Luke is thrilled to be working for a station he grew up watching. He enjoys taking his knowledge of the atmosphere into the classroom. Additionally, making many school visits and appearances through the years. Luke’s devotion to the weather is only topped by his devotion to his family. Luke is married to Amy, who is a teacher. Together they have three children to keep him busy when he’s not tracking the ever-changing weather of northeast Wisconsin.
