He has been with 9News for 20 years since he joined the station in 2000 after leaving KUSI-TV in San Diego, California, where he was a sports anchor and reporter. In addition, Mackey was a close partner of Drew Soicher in the Sports department until the latter’s departure.
During the period of this partnership, current fellow 9 sports workmate Taylor Temby, interned with 9NEWS. He made his final stop before Denver at KUSI-TV in San Diego, California. During his free time, he loves skiing, both water and snow. He also enjoys playing tennis, hockey, and running.
